Final Shadow Post

This will be my final post for shadow series. It's a collection of my favorite shots from the past three series. Focusing on one specific style of photography for such an extended period of time has really helped me focus on the specific details of each shot. I experimented with a number of different approaches towards shadow shots over this period, and it's really helped me adjust my style for it to be the best it can possibly be. All photos are in black and white, and I tried to play up the gloomy contrast feel while editing. I darkened most pictures with editing, playing up the contrast between dark and light portions of the shot. Hopefully this series represents my improvement as a photographer over the course of this long year. Hope you enjoy!

Shadows Third Set

This is the third draft of my shadow series. I used pretty similar styles as to my last few uploads. There are only a couple small differences from my past series. First, I used a couple more long range shots than usual. I also used a whole lot more contrast when editing. Hope you enjoy!

This is my second draft of my shadow series. In my first set, I focused on objects and their shadows. In this set, I focused more on interesting shapes formed by shadows. I used a pretty similar editing style to my last set. 

Shadows First Draft

For my photo series project I have been focusing on shadows. I shoot completely in black and white. I mostly focused on the contrast between shadowed and lighted areas. I also made a point of using objects as focus points of most of my photos. I hoped to create a surreal yet brutally realistic feel to the series. I hope you enjoy!

Halloween

Our most recent project in photography was basically a Halloween photo shoot. We were given a number of creepy masks, costumes, and other items to give our photos a Halloween feel. I mostly focused on close ups of individual pieces, such as masks, a skull, and a hand. I also used more of the features on picnik.com to edit my photos than ever before. I used a number of the features to attempt to make the pictures more frightening/scary. Hopefully you enjoy!

Short Stories

This is a rough draft post of our most recent project, Short Stories. We use figurines or live actors to create a story through photography. It can be a set of pictures, or a still shot that tells a story. I had some problems getting macro mode to work, and most of my pictures didn't come out well. The one set that worked was a story  using toy soldier figurines.
