Dan Eldon Collage

Our most recent project was  creating and shooting a collage, inspired by the collages of photojournalist Dan Eldon. Eldon had a subtle way of telling a story through a collage, and the message very often related to the real problems he encountered in his travels. The hardest part of this series was the actual shooting and editing of the collage; attempting to find a way to take away the "papery" look to it. I was happy with the result, though more comprehensive editing options may have helped.

  1. Wow Eric this is really powerful, and reflective of the sharp contrast of religion and violence in the middle east. You chose very different pictures that create an intense and dark mood when they are together in this collage. I am sure that taking the picture was very difficult but I think you picked excellent lighting that did not take anything away from the message you conveyed through this collage.

  2. Eric, Great Job! This is collage truly reveals your appreciation and understanding of Eldon's artistic approach. I really like how you centered the subject (the different characters) in a specific spot with a larger background portraying despair. This is a very powerful piece conveying struggles and despair, yet the way you organized the images reveals a sense of hope.
