Minimalism Draft 1

This is the first draft of my new series project on minimalism. Minimalism is a fairly subjective concept that leaves much room for the artist's interpretation  but it essentially boils down to the idea of using as few distinct elements in your photograph as possible. Keeping things simple. I struggled about with the open-ended nature of the idea, so I'll definitely need more time to explore the concept. So far of mostly focused on   striking subjects with a plain backgrounds.

  1. This is a very cohesive series and I really like how you used various flowers branches against a white background to portray minimalism. The vivid colors of each subject really helps the viewer focus on detail rather than the whole picture.

  2. These photos are great. I love how you created an interesting contrast of colors in each photo. Your first one was my favorite, i love the layering of the background with the flower.

  4. The second to last one is the most successful, in my opinion. I think you should vary the background, the white wall's texture seems to be a drag on the eye.

  6. I think your repetative colors and theme of nature enhances your series, but you may want to try using shadows of trees and leaves to be even more minimal.

  7. Really nice photos. I really like the artistic and simplistic feel that you adapted to this series. I really appreciate the use of rule of thirds that you use with your objects as well. Keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing how the rest of your series turns out, and how it works with other objects as well.

  8. my favorites are the first and the sixth. The first because of the flowers gentle softness and the way there is blue light emanating from behind the red flower. I like the sixth because, although it is not quite minimalism, i like how the foreground and background are separated and how the leaves in the back are overlapping eachother and going in different directions
